Markee and The Tailshakers are a band that take their influences
from the different styles of music that were prominent in the
fifties and sixties in the US. Their sound is an authentic blend
of Chicago blues and west coast swing. Their first album " A
Blues Record" contains fifteen tracks, twelve of which are
original. These original songs reflect the influences of the band,
whilst the three covers are an insight into the ever chaging
live-show songs that the band felt compelled to put their own
stamp on. "A Blues Record" was recorded at Toe Rag
Studios, London. A studio renowned for its uncomplicated and
tasteful vintage recording techniques. Liam Watson the engineer
and owner knows how to do justice to the live sound of a band.
Using vintage microphones sparingly to create an authentic sound
comparable to the Chess Studio sound of the fifties and sixties.
