There is a great sigh
of relief in the Welsh Valleys at present. Blue Traffic’s growing and
loyal army of fans has been desperately awaiting something to take home
from their gigs. The band, formed almost 3 years ago, pivot around the
scintillating guitar work of Dave Williams during their Live
performances but it takes a powerful and confident rhythm section to
maintain a solid foundation for his flamboyance. This is an exceptional
trio who know they will always light the blue touchpaper of excitement
wherever they take to the stage. The challenge in converting this
adrenaline buzz to a studio setting is immense. As are the risks.
So often we enthuse
over a Live set, buy the CD and find it flat, overproduced and
uninspired when we get it home. Not so, this one! This keeps the flame
burning, incandescent, demanding the attention throughout. This is
definitive Blues/Rock.
Yet… The exception
proves the rule. Moon Over Mountain is a standout track simply
because it’s a ballad; a haunting and thoughtful one at that. It’s time
Blue Traffic played to a wider audience and this CD should provide the
platform for avid attention outside the Principality. Get one. Quick!
