'' Mr H ''

Blues Singer/Songwriter

Mr “H” Blues Guitarist/Singer songwriter born and raised in the village of Beulah in Mid Wales and was first introduced to music at the age of 5 when he began piano lessons, however within two years he’d decided piano wasn't for him. From the age of seven to eleven in between singing in eisteddfods he spent hours listening to the vinyls collected by his aunt, bands and artists such as 1960’s pop and rock legends  the Kinks, Dave Clarke Five,The Move as well as  Jazz and Blues greats such as Wes Montgomery, Howlin Wolf,T.Bone Walker.

When he was eleven his sister bought a Kay catalogue acoustic guitar, but failed in her attempts to master a chord, Mr “H” sneaked it out of her room and the rest is history.

Recording a single on Broken Records in 1980 titled “Sadie” a song tinged with Jazz by the Sax performance of Ralph Smith,he promoted this around the UK with the aid of Radio play from local and national stations. The release of his second single “Dirty World” did not penetrate the imagination as deeply as Sadie and the record received poor media coverage which resulted in poor sales and his record company let him go.

After spending years playing and performing the release of his acoustic album in 2009 has kick started his recording  career. The album was recorded with John David (Dave Edmunds,Mark Knofler) sitting behind the desk and was initially to be a recording for personal reasons only. However,John said to send a copy to Frank Hennessy of Radio Wales who enjoyed it enough to start playing the record on his show. This resulted in other stations playing the album with a whole weekend on uk country radio being dedicated to playing songs off the album every hour.

Rock and Reel Magazine described the album as a fusion of rugged blues and jazz with well constructed pop songs at their core whilst Taplas Magazine  wrote Mr “H” has a searing voice with songs that have individual catchy hook lines and memorable tunes.

Mr “H” is a blues man at heart and the release of his second album in late 2009 – 2010 will contain far more elements from his initial influences such as Tom Waits,Howlin Wolf,T.Bone Walker and John Lee Hooker
