Three seasoned musicians, and of course don't miss out seeing young
Virgil before he goes 'international'. His guitar skills are awesome. And to make you blues
guitarists green with envy: he's only 15 years old!
Virgil & The
Accelerators, are a sensational blues band who blew away a sell-out
audience on the final day of last years' Tenby Blues Festival. Fronted
by the extraordinarily talented 16yr old lead guitarist Virgil McMahon, much attention is curre ntly being focussed on this four piece powerhouse blues act
from Aberystwyth. The UK blues press are unanimously predicting a great
future for Virgil who is being nurtured and backed by The Accelerators.
Originally formed by Hugh Morgan (guitar and harp) and Virgil's dad
Hendry (bass and vocals), The Accelerators have recently been joined by
top ex-London session and virtuouso performance drummer, Geoff Cox,
whose own work includes stints with some of the greats of USA and UK
jazz. Be prepared to be moved and amazed at Mumbles Rugby Club on 5th
May!
'Virgil McMahon is a
guitar prodigy making waves in the Welsh and ripples throughout the
British Blues scene.' Blues in Britain Magazine.
'The Accelerators
are the finest blues band I've heard for some time - tight, energetic,
passionate and entertaining - and 15 year
old Virgil on lead guitar is truly an awesome talent.' BB Skone, Radio
Pembrokeshire.
'A 15yr
old year old blues guitarist called Virgil McMahon had just played the
roof off the Tenby Rugby Club. From the moment that Virgil strapped on
the black Les Paul until the standing ovation at the end it had been one
hell of a memorable afternoon. He took us through everything from
neck-strangling sustain and fast, driving solos to sensitive and violin
passages, all supported by a more than competent band. I walked out into
the sunshine stunned and speechless'. Punter feedback on Tenby Blues
Festival.
